Welcome!

Well, I've taken the plunge! I was in AdhoMuhkaSavasana this morning, and I let my mind wander. What came to mind were all the blogs I am addicted to checking in on each day (all of them are fashion blogs, none of them about yoga! Heck of a thing to be thinking about when you're supposed to be still). Anyway, these fashion gals are quite accomplished: they post almost daily, they post photos, they get comments, they write back, and in general put a LOT of time and energy (which I never seem to have enough of, btw!) into sharing something with the world about their passion. I mean, I like fashion, and I like pulling a look together, and I feel proud of myself when I pull it off, but I don't know if I could even hope of keeping up with some of these amazing blogs - all good entertainment and fun to read.

All of this crossed my mind in the 2 breaths of DownDog (my teacher this morning kept us moving - and hey, my mind is quick!), and I wondered why I don't blog about yoga...people would read, right? Right?!?

Would I call yoga my "passion"? I know there are a lot of people out there who are WAAAAY more passionate about it than I am. People who have the luxury of practicing every day - people who never have to tell their teacher, as I did this morning, "Oh, it's been a while - 2 weeks or so - so we'll see how I do...", but yoga does have a firm place in my life. I wouldn't consider myself an "athletic" person, but if I haven't practiced in a while, I know something is missing. I may think that I have no energy to practice, but I am drawn to it anyway. I have learned a lot about myself and the world around me in the 3 years since I have regularly been practicing. It's definitely worth blogging about, as far as I'm concerned. Plus, I think I have enough friends I can strong-arm into following my posts that I may be able to see where it goes.

So that's why I'm taking the plunge. For now, with summer approaching, and the increased opportunities for me to practice (and "extra" time to blog about it) , I think I can commit to sharing my experiences on the mat. I have a few ideas, ranging from reflections on my practice, "reviews" of my instructors, critiques on articles I read, and of course, if I'm ambitious, "poses of the week". Won't that be fun? Stay tuned...
